Importing Maloo from Oz
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm hoping someone can help here. I would like to import a Holden Maloo from Oz to here in the UK. I have spoken to Vauxhall, but they can only help if I buy brand new (I would like a pre-owned one). I have spoken to some Japanese importers, who can help with the importing/customs etc., but won't have anyone in Oz who can physically check the car first. They even checked the Japanese market, as sometimes they end up there.
Has anyone imported something like this from Australia? Any names or contacts would be greatly appreciated!
TIA

Hi,
Just bringing my second ute from Aus, its all at sea at the moment.
The first I bought from Victoria and got a RAC V Victoria inspection prior to purchase for peace of mind.
I think that if you are looking for a low mileage good condition ute a Holden dealership is a good bet.
Beware its difficult to get them to believe that you are a serious buyer, as you are in the UK they tend to think that its a scam enquiry.
Decide which model, colour, mileage, and extras you require and look regularly, before a purchase I am looking on a day to day basis.
Thats the easy and fun part. Registering it in the UK with the DVLA can be a nightmare. I had a few problems on the first ute, and am keeping everything crossed that the next one is easier.
Yes you will have to pay import tax and vat before it leaves the docks this end.
Hope that helps,

You sir, are a legend!!! I saw RACV and wondered if they would do the inspection and you have proven this!!
I am so glad it's not impossible to bring one over as it would be awesome to have one!
I'm searching daily for them and have been sticking to dealers rather than private. Now to get the ball rolling. I've found a car importer who have offered to help with getting it on the ship and getting it registered etc here.
I'd love to hear how yours gets on once it's here, any pics?
With regards to SVA, if it's 10 yrs or over does it still need an SVA on it?

This company dealt with our Ute (for the previous owner) when it was brand new.
