Monaro throttle position sensor.....
Discussion
Been having on ongoing problem with my Monaro VXR (LS2) randomly going into limp home mode for a while now, had it plugged into diagnostics which pointed the finger at the throttle position sensor. Would this mean changing the whole throttle body or can you just change the sensor? Any advice would be gladly accepted. Cheers.

Obviously you'll need to ensure part matches your own...prices seem to have increased a bit since I last bought a couple last year.Ade

You'll find some sellers selling new take off units too...but also beware, there are places selling aftermarket pieces and Chinese versions.
Delco/GM will have a proper part number and one of those little square barcode things on it

I would almost put money on it being the throttle body and not the throttle position sensor.
Had the same problem with mine 5 years ago.
I came across the old thread for that earlier on Pete, so yours was randomly going into limp home without warning? Has it been okay since replacing the throttle body? Looks a fairly simple fix bearing in mind i'm a mechanical technician by trade. Had the same problem with mine 5 years ago.

I ignored it the first 2 or 3 times it happened and then one morning it wouldn’t even attempt to start. Completely dead.
A few days later I eventually managed to get it fired up but it went straight to limp mode. I drove it to my mechanic who replaced the throttle body and it has been fine ever since.

As said...he'd need to check exactly what he has. But checking and cleaning contacts etc would be a sensible and free thing to try.Price difference between the two does seem a bit silly.

That's mental money...there are sellers on egay around $350 and if you get it with teh global shipping program, postage will be sensible too.But check it really is needed first at that price...ie clean contacts etc.
And can the latter gold blade not be swapped for the earlier silver ?

Thanks for link, but on my Monaro VXR 2005 LS2 the throttle body is the larger diameter, over 100mm.
Ade
I can assure you NO factory TB is 100mm nevermind larger.Ade
You do not measure where the pipe goes on, it is the blade diameter.
