Hi,

I'm looking for the Aircon tensioner pulley for a 04 CV8
I hear Brett Speed4u maybe the man to help.
I've looked at Rock auto but not sure which part to get.

Any help hugely appreciated. A/C makes a noise when off but is fine when on. Been told if can get the pulley then no need to get whole aircon unit replaced.

I've just replaced both the aircon idler and tensioner pulley on my 04 CV8, they are both the same. Got the Dayco ones from Rock Auto .. came to roughly £30 inc shipping etc.

Thanks Joycv8.

That's great, do you recall What part numbers are they?

Sounds more like you need the actual compressor pulley rather than the idler/tensioner as if the noise is only there with ac turned off that’s normally the bearings in the ac compressor pulley clutch mate

Ah OK. Thanks.
Forgive my ignorance, but I'm not sure which part that is on the Rock Auto website. So many different pulleys.

Can anyone clarify?

it’s siunding like the ac compressor rather than pulley as it’s only noisy when ac is on or off , if it’s a pulley it will be all the time , have you tried to pushing some thick grease into the front of the ac compressor where the open splines are , as that can sometimes reduce the noise , then turn the compressor on off a number of times , i think a lack of use or grit getting into the front of it causes an issue

The Dayco part no for the tensioner and idler pulley is 89135 .. if they've never been changed they'll probably need doing. I've not seen the a/c clutch pulley available separately from the compressor though you may be able to get a new clutch disc for it.

Most ac compressors are replaced due to internal leaks etc so maybe someone on here has there old one & so long as the pulley spins quietly your laughing although on some cars you need a special tool to remove the pulley. Where I live there is a mobile ac guy who would be able to swap the pulley for you. Thanks shaun

I have a compressor that I imported from aus recently. Its used but good. I found after fitting it, my condenser was holed.

£50 +post if you want it.
