Time to get the Monaro serviced, just wondering who everyone is using? Thinking of trying Topcats as they are closer than Walkinshaw performance. I'm near Bedford/Cambridge.

I will be going to Topcats at some point for my next service, same position as you as I am in Watford, Walkys are too far for a service, as far as I know Topcats are happy for you to supply the service items, if you wanted to, that is, if you get there before me, would be good to hear how you got on.

Walkinshaw for me, had no dealings with Topcats, so can’t comment, but Walkinshaw know these cars inside out and have a huge knowledge base in Australia to boot. For that reason, I’m happy to travel to them.

Plus mines well known to them smile

Do walkinshaw service theMonaro? I remember a few years ago asking for a quote for a supercharger on my Monaro they simply were not interested! Can't imagine that has changed?

My thought too. I'm not sure Walkinshaw support Monaros.

A good friend of mine only used Walkinshaw to service his Monaro so can’t see why they would not be interested in servicing one?

Just give Dave a call and ask.

Blooming long way to go for a service though. Who has all the parts for these now Monkfish have closed?

I think Neil and Brett bought everything off of Monkfish. Raving has probably got some bits and pieces.

I'll call TopCats tomorrow to see what they say. It's only 13 miles from where Monkfish used to be so might work out well for many of us. They fit TVRs with LS motors so should have all the mechanical consumables on the shelf.

Emailed TopCats using both email addresses over the weekend and received no reply yet. Will try phoning them tomorrow.

They do support the monaro but they prefer to work on the vxr8
They are extremely busy currently

Just like to say that Walkinshaw were very supportive with my Monaro last year, with Tim they have one off the most knowledgeable Mechanic's on HSV cars and engines around, and the ability to get parts for the cars.
Recommended,
Paul
ps they do get very busy.

Spoke to Warren, the owner at TopCats, seems like a nice bloke. Said he can supply parts or we can supply our own, all engine stuff is on the shelf already.

Mine is one of a number of Monaros now booked in with them so best get your skates on!

Does anyone know the exact engine oil Monkfish used, was it 10w40 Royal Purple synthetic?

5/30 Royal Purple for my Monaro, together with a Royal Purple oil filter. If you have any problems call Stuart at AAS in Newcatle Upon Tyne, he is a UK supplier.

Thanks. Taking the car down there next weekend for a basic service and MOT, they can turn it around within a couple of days which is pretty decent. Definitely more convenient than Walkinshaw and they seem grateful for our business. I'll report back when it's done.

For what's its worth, here's my experience.
I've found walkinshaw useful for info and parts sourcing were needed, but not used them beyond that.
I popped down last year with a few other monaro owners to an open morning at Topcats. Whilst there they inspected the car on a ramp and gave me a report.
Over the winter I have had it stored there too, as I don't have a garage sadly.
I've had a full servic, Pads Aircon fix and top mounts and track rod ends done by them.
They have been very helpful and friendly throughout my experience with them thus far.
I chose to supply parts which they were more than fine with.
They are competent and able to fabricate parts if needed.
I pick the car up on the 16th and can't wait.
She's also been in good company whilst there...
