Unavailable parts and the future for monaro
Discussion
Hi all, When I bought my monaro last year I didn’t give the parts availability much thought. Ive since notice that a few parts that might be needed one day are unavailable.
Wondered if there was maybe a thread we could start to list these as we find them and then possible substitutes or oversea suppliers. For example recent chat about radiators! If mine goes tomorrow it would be nice to be able to quickly locate a recommended supplier of the mishimoto or custom rad builder.
Can any guess who’s mot is coming up!!

If someone can start the list/thread I’ve got a couple of part numbers to add to it ? Would be handy whenever you need a part to just look on here Wondered if there was maybe a thread we could start to list these as we find them and then possible substitutes or oversea suppliers. Good idea! I'm currently looking for a front abs sensor and haven't a clue where to get one at a reasonable price! Any suggestions gratefully received!
If you can see a part number on it or better still get the GM part number from a Vauxhall dealer you can then cross reference it online or get your local motor to try cross reference the number. It may be the same as an Vauxhall omega for eg. My previous toy was a 70s Aussie chrysler Cj which came with parts manual on disc which I printed off & put in a large ring binder. It was so useful as i could look up any part for the car then try cross reference the number. For example when I needed rear brake cylinders the Oe part number cross referenced to a modern number (Chrysler voyager) which my local motor factors had in stock very cheap !
I got rid of my Triumph TR-7 because it was a 20-year-old car and parts were getting rare. Now I wish that I had kept it. My GTO is a 2004. Beginning to show its age. Considering the purchase cost, I will hold onto it at least until it begins to nickel and dime me into the poor house. Over four hundred dollars for a new steering pump. A good start. Then there is insurance. Any insurance company would rather declare a GTO totaled than fix it.
Thanks, but ebay actually has more to offer than Rock Auto. Occasionally, I tease myself by browsing ebay Australia. Even Australian vendors have few items for this car. Then there is postage. DHL is the only thing they seem to use, and the charges are by the mile and the gram. A set of front side repeater lights [USA GTOs have a plaque mounted over the fender holes], was $45 plus about $100 shipping.

I found some items cheap to get sent over, there is a regular eBay shop I used when I had my chrysler. I got ferodo front brakes pads £40 incdelivered. Ordered Sunday evening & I had them Thursday ! Tracking them they were in Uk within 1.5 days but it took 3days to get from Heathrow to my house in leicester lol. Also got a pitman arm £40 delivered same time scale. Only snag is if they send the wrong part ! shaungriff1 said:

A lot of Commodore parts fit Monaro and VXR8.
V2 Monaro series 3 = VY series 2 Commodore = Pontiac GTO 2004
VZ Monaro = VZ Commodore = Pontiac GTO 2005
VE VXR8 = HSV Clubsport = Pontiac G8 GXP (LS3) = VE series I Commodore and series 2 (Pontiac G8 GT is 6.0litre version but not LS2)
Trim parts are hard to come by, but engine and mechanical stuff is easy.
Make sure you put in V8 when ordering stuff as there is loads of stuff for V6 cars that might not work.
I would put a up a few links but don't want to get shot by the powers that be.
