Well after a lot of thinking I have finally got a T56 Magnum, I went for a Tick stage 4 so in theory it will be pretty built proof. I also went for an adjustable Tick master cylinder. I'd been reading about the people having difficulties selecting first and reverse gear and that the GTO or Monaro master cylinders being not so good and to upgrade to an adjustable one which makes shifting easier. I'm not sure what to do with the old box, it had been rebuilt not long before I bought my ute and it hasn't really done many miles since.

Used boxes always have value to someone, just sell it is probably best thing.

Yes I think I probably will sell it Stevie as I suppose it is just going to sit in the corner of the garage taking up space.
Hi James I'm glad your liking your new box, I did some research and then thought I'd go for 2.66 and didn't end up changing the 5th and 6th gears. Did you find out who modified your prop? Is your single peace or is it better to keep them two peace? I've thrown the boat out and bought a Spec super twin double plate clutch, what do you end up fitting?

most 1 piece shafts will have speed limitations given their length.

determine whether that will be a problem for you.

This is interesting, so is this a replacement for the stock T56 in a Monaro and if so what sort of costs did you incur for what you did? Also why, my understanding was that the stock T56 was quicte bullet proof already. What motivated your change?

Stevie It'll probably stay a two peace then.

No worries James I'm sure my prop will get sorted out when the box goes in.

Yanayaya The T56 Monaro box is a different box, the T56 Magnum is an after market version of the Tremec TR6060. The Tick GTO T56 Magnum is an upgraded version of the T56 Magnum and has a modified tail section, Tick now do 3 different specs mine is a stage 4 and can handle up to 900ftlbs of rear wheel torque.
Check it out here, this I'll give you some answers http://www.tickperformance.com/t56-magnum-tr-6060-...
Motivation for change is having more power than before and reliability and should be much nicer gear selection

How much did Tick charge to ship that out here ?

It'll be interesting to hear how you feel it does shift compared to the old box.

Not quite true. I have a Drive Shaft Shop single carbon fibre prop fitted to my SC Monaro and had no vibration issues at the last TR I attended (and won). They are tested on a spintron.

.

True my CV8 box has survived 599rwhp for many years without modification. Probably down to its agricultural qualities?

very true...as I said most, not all.

Carbon fibre will allow a higher critical speed vs all other materials for any given length/diameter.

Their 1 piece aluminium shaft is rated at a very lowly 150mph, although for some reason they fail to give actual shaft rpm with this number so depending on final drive used it could be much less, or a little more.

And a 1 piece steel shaft will be even lower again.

You can test them anywhere, but you cannot change the laws of physics. As much as a carbon shaft sounds nice...I still couldnt bring myself to trust one !
