I've had my monaro now for 4 years ,I bought it with slight steering wheel wobble under braking and this was reflected in the price. I don't use it much so I tolerated it for 2 years anyway I then decided to buy an ap racing brake upgrade kit and had it fitted at monkfish.just Under a year later and new tyres being fitted and the wheels rotated I noticed s wheel wobble under braking again this got progressively worse with time to the point of being dangerous.so after a lot of research I rang Marcus a at disc skimmers ltd at soham Cambs spoke to him and arranged a visit today when i arrived he said you do realise that your discs aren't warped so up on the ramp wheels off a lot sanding to the back of the wheel faces cleaning to the wheel hub face built up copper grease and corrosion and then to the discs! Corroded through lack of use although the discs weren't warped he had to skim them by a micron to remove the cooked on corrosion then polished .marcus said in all of the years hes been doing this he's rarely seen warped discs it's basically bad powder coating non cleaning of hub faces and lack of use so now when I get in my car after not being used for a long time i have to get her up to 60mph be aggressive on the brakes down to 20mph and do this about 3 times to burn off the corrosion in his own words "don't drive it like a pussy " it's now a totally different all for £130

Yep, had this myself on my AP's. My local garage said the discs were warped after less than 2k miles as they were juddering pretty badly. I don't drive the car much - about 10k p/a. I called roger at monkfish to ask about this and he advised "this is a complete load of b*llocks!"

The discs have now been skimmed and are fine. Lesson learned for the future!!

Just goes to show that if you listen to the wrong advice it can cost a fortune

Pad transfer can be another problem. Again, people confuse it with discs warping and garages are more than willing to flog you a new set rather than sorting the problem.

TL:DR Whether your discs are deformed from heat or corrosion, they're still fked and will require skimming or replacement to fix steering wheel judder.

Not so.
Performance Friction Pad brand pads will scour off resin deposits from, say, factory pads. I know, it worked for me and many, many others.
There is no need to skim or replace discs unless they are badly scored or corroded.

Marcus at the wheel skimmers was a wealth of knowledge he really told me some really interesting info on brakes wheels and tyres he actually cuts tyre treads in tyres for racing and tyre company's ( continental) at the moment and he even had a visit from 4 lotus engineers , from what I can gather he's highly regarded I now these fields well worth a visit
