Arghhh! No oil pressure AGAIN.

First time was same, 'check oil' light and had to get home by which time engine didn't sound good and there was no pressure showing on gauge. Monkfish confirmed there was no pressure after doing test. Cheapest and quickest way to get running again was new engine, said Roger, which Monkfish fitted.
This time I had a '3' on the pressure gauge whilst engine running when 'check oil' warning showed, pulled into services quickly and after refuelling, started it and zilch on the gauge. Turned it off immediately and just got it recovered to home. Will speak to Roger in morning. Be nice if it was just a sender. Oil level is at top and not too dark as only done 3.5K since oil/filter change. This is getting to be an expensive habit!
No fault codes on OBDII to indicate any other issues.

I had the same issue on my Monaro, but it was just the sender unit. I think it would be impossible for you to have trashed a second engine with similar symptoms.
Let us all know the result, but my money is on something simple like a sender unit (even that would be unusual for a new unit to fail, unless you have reused the sender unit from your original engine)
It might even be the oil pressure gauge at fault.
Have a little faith...not easy these days I know.

No modifications that would affect the oil system in general ?
Direct Replacement GM product from Partsworld Performance stock motor other than Magnaflow Cat-Back. Car is completely standard bar exhaust - 2009 VE model.No modifications that would affect the oil system in general ?

First time engine definitely wasn't good. I would love it to be sender unit (or gauge) this time especially after a mere 4.5k on this engine. It would be pretty damn bad luck to have two go as you say. At least should be under warranty if it is oil pump relief valve. I think looking at switch, it's new as the crate engine comes with pretty much everything in comparison to a lot of replacement motors. I ain't gonna walk out in a thunderstorm though just in case my luck isn't in.
Did 120 miles this morn with no issues, stopped for a bite to eat then after, just up the road a minute or two, the dreaded message. Luckily was just outside Baldock Services so pulled in still showing a good '3' on the gauge then zilch after restart. Switched off and flatbed back home. Pity as was going to St Neots meet after taking in some great roads/tunnels this morning.
Jeez, my old 1974 308 HJ Monaro was more reliable than this...

I thought that if you loose all oil pressure on an engine whilst still driving, you can still run it (without damage) for a minute or so, provided it's not under any load and you are using high quality oil?mfp4073 said:

Er, No. What made you think that? It was fine prior to breakfast. After breakfast it was fine, just a very short distance from Baldock to Baldock services where I was going to refuel literally three minutes after setting off after breakfast, the warning flashed up - I still had 3kPa at this point. I was in the Services in a matter of seconds. after refuel drove it about three car lengths off of forecourt to tyre air line. Switched it off, restarted very briefly and then it had a zero on the gauge. Turned off immediately and got it trailered home. @Stevieturbo - Maybe your not reading the post correctly or I'm not wording it clear enough. When I say first time (above) I mean on original engine. This is happening on the replacement now. Exactly the same issue it seems. I did state it's had a new engine, I did also state it was trailered home. Not quite sure where you're coming from re:you drove it again...

Monkfish have confirmed that there is no oil pressure. Waiting to see how to move forward on this once they contact Partsworld Performance (who supplied the new LS3) on Monday. I think it's time to find a car that's reliable as this just ain't cutting it. Would love to keep it but have to drive to work and need something that isn't off the road 3 months a year
