Increasingly frequently over the past couple of weeks, turning the key on my Monaro has been met with a clunk, then a pause, then a reluctant churn from the starter. I assume this is the starter motor on its way out, but before I start throwing money at it, does anyone have any alternative suggestions?

If it is the starter, do I need to order any ancillaries in addition to a new one e.g. bolts, seals etc? My preference is to get the parts from Monkfish, then throw it at a local garage since Monkfish is an 80 minute drive for me.

Maybe check out the battery or give it a good charge before going for a starter motor. Make sure all the connections on the battery are free from junk!

Mine was doing the same and ended up being the starter motor.

Mine has been doing this for a little while now. Always started on the 2nd click, until a few weeks ago it took 5 or 6 clicks to start. Weirdly it has been fine since.

I've ordered a new starter from the States through eBay as it was much cheaper, and going to fit it this weekend.

Mine was doing this, it was a loose connection on the starter motor itself, not easy to get at !!
