Alternator request

Hi All
On my 2007 VXR8 I have suffered the alternator failing. Have got a new one from Walkinshaw and it has been fitted and is working well again.

I was wondering does anyone have an old failed alternator. I would just like to compare how they have failed. Mine it would seem is down to corrosion in the stator core. Just wondering if they are failing in a similar way.

Sorry Mike,

I can't help. But when my alternator failed, I was surprised that I could not get it refurbished at much less cost than new, which was around £350 IIRC

Hi Steve, thanks for the reply, I know what you mean we have a local chap who usually can repair at a fraction of the cost of replacement. He diagnosed fault in 10 minutes flat but sourcing spare parts was imposible.

Yes would be interested if you still have it. Would just be nice to see if it has failed in the same way. I am happy to pay postage/costs etc.

Hi Mike,

Yes, no problem. Are there any meets you'll be going to in the near future such as Haynes, as I see you're not too far away? Can't imagine the postage will be too cheap due to weight, although might be cheaper than a drive out in the R8s
