Some of you may remember my thread about searching for a Monaro, well after visiting the meet @ MW Performance last month I came away deciding a VXR8 would be better (2 young children), so finally, here she is, 08 LS3 in Heron White:

It's got a few niggling issues to sort (steering squeaking, hopefully just top mounts, exhaust only operates in 'loud' mode, new aircon belt needed etc), but it'll shortly be going to Monkfish/Walkinshaw to have these and a few other bits sorted, and I feel I got it for a good price, considering the 20's and the paintwork is immaculate, you wouldn't think it's nearly 10yrs old, the bodywork looks 1-2yrs old at most.

Still getting used to it, having come from the 2yr old ST in the background everything in this feels very heavy and agricultural in comparison, but I can't get enough of the engine & noise. I'm finding I'm getting alot of positive comments about it when out, alot of people asking what it is, but the only downside is everyone seems to want to race me everywhere, already tired of having hot hatches driving 2inch from my rear bumper, but suppose it comes with the territory.

So everyone get ready for my endless questions about various things as I come to grips with ownership.

Edit - First question, wheel nut covers. Mine are ropey, is the simplest solution Monkfish for the locking nut covers? I've found these for the standard nuts:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TPI-Injected-Black-Wheel...
Which are alot cheaper than the Monkfish offering, but then I'd still need some to go over the locking nuts.

Lovely looking car, enjoy!

At legal speeds a lot of modern hot hatches will give you a good run for your money, I tend just to let them sit on my bumper.
They can enjoy the noise smile

Get the ebay ones, get 2 sets then as you get one cover deteriating just change it, last for years.
Also if black why not just spray them.

Nice car. As for the hit hatch thing, why do you think so many of us fitted superchargers? smile

Annoyingly 2 of the locking nut covers are already missing, so need replacing anyway.

Glad to see you took the plunge mate, i`ve just bought a set of the ebay 22mm wheel covers much cheaper and look fine. The lockers are £7 each from MF so not excessive. Have fun in the car and enjoy that noise, hope to see you at a meet in it

Neither do I, if anything I want more noise, one of the attractions to this car was the potential ability to wake the dead, but it's booked into WP in August for a variety of other things, so may as well get the exhaust fixed at the same time.
