Never had more than 24 mpg out of my cv8. Went round Scotland early June for a week about 1500 miles averaged 26.6. First stint up to Dundee mostly motorway did 29 mpg Checked computer against petrol receipt. Only thing i have changed are the tyres had ps3 on front for a few months but just before going to Scotland put ps4 on rear as well. Running at 35psi. Previous tyres were not this brand.

Very interesting, would suggest that the new tyres have a less rolling resistance than the old tyres + diameter slightly larger due to depth of tread.

I have just completed a trip from the North East to Hampshire and back. I always get around 26-28 mpg on a long haul. Mind you on the Isle of Wight driving mainly in 3rd and sometimes 4th gear it turned into a gas guzzler that's for sure.
I have to say LS engines must be the best V8's regarding fuel consumption, My brothers 5.7 RT Challenger was terrible on fuel, and that was a 2010 model.

I get similar mpg and it's down to a 3.9 diff. CV8 '05 remap and Wortec catback.

Same here, CV8, 3.9 diff, remap, headers and a cat back. Not a bad package really.

I find it hard to use 6th gear, which is where you'll get any 'economy'...

5th is such a great all-rounder.

No No No You`re doing it all wrong, anything more than 10mpg and your missing the whole point of this most wonderous machine.
Indeed at one point I managed to register a whole 2.9mpg on the on board.

Oh no. I didn't intend starting a topic on who gets what mpg from their car again just pointing out that mine has increased and all i have done is changed tyres. Had car for 8yr and never had the mpg that i am now getting. Running up the motorway is 6th gear boring stuff really but driving the west coast of Scotland is great fun and i was'nt holding back just to get more mpg. The whole point of going there in the first place was to enjoy the driving so doing it in high gear trying to get the highest mpg possible would not be fun at all. Been four times now and will sure be back again. I kept all my petrol tickets just out of interest and there were lots of them as i fill up even if still half full to make sure you get to the next fuel station, Great fun but don't hold back for mpg.

The West Coast is my doorstep and the Monaro fourth gear is my friend. V Power is it's Uisge Beatha.
No thoughts about mpg there.

Running 245/35/19 up front and 255/35/19 in the rear on my VXR. Pilot supersports all round.

Just driven from Manchester to Newhaven and a few miles once I arrived in Dieppe. Averaged 33.4mpg. Got stuck in traffic on the M25 for a good hour or so as well.

Really impressed with what it gets on a run to be honest.

trip computer is often not accurate it's best measured from full tank to full tank , it showed 29.6 which appears the max it will show , but actually returned just under 35 it was something like 34.9 mpg on a long run , focus pac plus 3.9 diff , not bad for a 5.7 , not that i want to drive it like that all the time , a very comfy car on a long run though

Sorry to disagree regarding tank fill to tank fill on a Monaro, as any Monaro owner knows sometimes it is impossible to fill tank due to the way that the air releases when filling and it trips the pump nozzle off at different points.
