Just wondering what people think of the upgrade as my original is starting to leak lol. Is it a good steering feel. Cheers peeps

I have a quick rack on my Monaro. The straight a head position and the around the town driving feels similar to the original rack, although it has a little more weight behind it which I like.
On the twistie's is where you feel the difference. The car turns in better without making it twitchy. I believe the quick rack has 2.6 turns lock to lock, and the standard rack is around 3.2.
If you need a new rack anyway, a quick rack is the way to go.

I forgot to mention you really need a Road response pack fitted to the front end to get the best out of a quick rack. Make sure you fit two new track rod ends as well.
When that lot is done the car will feel better, and front tyre scrub will be none existent. However your Mr's will kick off at the cost, well mine did!

Where is the leak? Mine seeps from the large nut on the rack housing , mentioned this at monkfish the other week and roger said as long as it's not dripping it's fine and they all do it .

I think it is dripping. The big main rubber on drivers side is covered in fluid

If the leak has not allowed any dirt and grit to get into the rack, you could consider just replacing the rubber gator.
You will have to remove the track rod end to make it a bit easier to fit the new gator. I did that until I could afford the quick rack.

If your replacing the rack chances are that the hydraulic lines will be corroded (normally under the crank front pully) and the low pressure pipe can cracking at the rack end where it bolts on according to some ausie websites, so best to inspect/replace both lines when you do the rack and also check it's not them leaking in the first place.

Oi Oi Batman cool

Get A QuickRak (what they should have fitted in the first place) for Sure thumbup much better feel (far easier to catch the rear end when it does step out 'a bit') and as mentioned above Get a Front end Pack too, defo change any hoses you can as one of mine failed the other year, and track rod ends too and Rogers Magic special blend of herbs, spices, coffee beans and angles for wheel alignment.

Might want to look into replacing the cooler too. Replaced mine with a £20 transmission cooler from ebay + hoses onto the original hardlines. Seems to be holding up OK. I'm eventually going to replace the entire circuit on mine as it's a corrosion magnet. Actually the whole bloody plumbing of the car to be honest biggrin
