The oil temperature on my VXR8 seems to sit at 120ish quite frequently. Today I wasn't driving it hard and it was sat there. Oil level is fine and the water temp gauge was showing below halfway.

Is this normal for these big engine cars or should I be investigating...

Thanks in advance

mines cammed and supercharged with larger injectors . Sits at 120 driving summer . gauges are pretty inaccurate but 110 - 120 ish is fine. had mine up to 130 before now in a spirited convoy blast.

This is perfectly normal for the VE series VXR8's. It happened on both of the ones I've had. One was a standard LS3, the other a supercharged/cammed LS3.

The gauge is to blame. Either put a piece of tape over it or stick one of these on the sump for peace of mind.

I am relieved to hear that it is normal!

Thanks for putting my mind at rest.
