Just had my renewal come through the post from Sky and this year it is £875
What other insurance guys can I speak to that like modified HSV's as I would like to get that cost down if I can.

you could try

pace ward http://www.paceward.com/motor/prestige-performance
or
keith michaels https://www.keithmichaels.co.uk/performance-car-in...
or
aib https://www.aib-insurance.co.uk/products/car-insur...

I am with pace ward just now with my skyline and am paying a lot less than that with a guaranteed value

I'm with Keith Michaels and very happy with mine, £650 all mods covered with a London post code, 02082880275 is for Gary Moulson own number and he's into modified cars as well so always try's for the best deal (tell him i sent yousmile ) , he just sometimes can be a pain to get hold of but worth it

I wouldn't mind staying with Sky and if after I have shopped around which I intend to do, they may come somewhere near to the new quotes I will stay with them, but we will see, I may be unpleasantly surprised and all will be expensive lol

That's interesting as I'd been with A-Plan for years but when I got the VXR8, they were stupidly expensive then if I started asking about mods, they point blank refused/couldn't find anyone to do it. 20 miles North of London, 50+ with max no claims.
I ended up with Sky but at a cheaper rate than Snowwolf with pretty much every mod included...

I'm with Sky I pay about £500 for a 57 plate vxr8 including mods. I'm mid 30s, 10+ years no claims, Bristol area. One thing I did notice was that adding my gf to the policy made it a decent chunk cheaper even though she's younger than I am and had an accident in 2015.

Gave A Plane a call, they quoted £640 so called Sky to cancel and they price matched so stayed with Sky, that is with all mods, and car value @ £48k

We're with A Plan too, but it has to be the Bletchley office that you deal with. The others aren't interested in niche car policies.

My problem with that is that they obviously wanted to screw you out of £235 - or load your premium with 36% profit for them.

I admire your loyalty to them but it would appear that they were more interested in taking advantage of that fact rather than looking after a good customer.

Cheers ARAF, I'll remember that at next renewal.

Just to balance this out, ive been with SKY a number of years now and do some shopping around at renewal. Although some have beaten SKY, its been a max of about £50 so I've never felt they have tried to sting me.

As with all quotes tho, you must ensure its like for like, otherwise its like comparing chalk and cheese.

I get your point Araf but every business that you pay a yearly fee for, wether it be car, motorcycle, home health or whatever insurance, they all do the same and luckily in this day and age we can shop around and it is £100 less than last year and added the Harrop st st exhaust I just had fitted, I'm well happy considering the actual price of the car smile

Out of interest I popped into A-Plan today to query this. I think they may still refer the quote to the Thatcham branch and the reason they declined me was likely that it's an only car - daily driver doing 23K miles per year. They phoned Bletchley and with the usage it still wouldn't touch Sky pricewise.

It's the Thatcham branch that deal with me. No complaints, all mods fully declared.

I have their breakdown cover too, which I needed to use last year, and that was very good too. They sent out a flatbed just as I asked and took the car all the way down to Walkinshaws just as I'd stipulated.
