Best brakes for irregular use?
Discussion
I have and would recommend the AP racing setup......you just need to take it out if its rained a few days or put a breathable cover on the car, which I do if I no I am not going to use it within a week or so. Also some of the CV8 owners will be up for the VXR calipers so it offsets a bit of the cost.

I took my standard brakes apart last week for a clean and general inspection. If i'm lucky I will get the rest of the year out of them. I really would like a set of AP's, but bloody hell they are not the cheapest mod. Mind you they look good very good!, but are they really worth it on a road car?
The only option's for me are to replace my brakes with MF carbon pad's, together with EBC slotted disc's, and see what they are like. (I already have braided brake hose's) Or.......get the AP's and be done with it.

The APs are well priced compared to other brake kits and do a brilliant jobI really would like a set of AP's, but bloody hell they are not the cheapest mod. Mind you they look good very good!, but are they really worth it on a road car?

My standard brakes got really bad so looked at replacement same as you thought about AP but heard they do not like it if not in regular use plus the cost. Ended up buying slotted DBA discs and performance pads all round for less than £500 + vat from MF. Fitting on Tuesday ready for a week in Scotland on the following Monday.

I would be very interested in how you find the DBA's. I have looked on their web site and there seem's to be a few choice's of disc for a Monaro.I'm not very hard on the brakes, but always felt disappointed in the overall brake pedal feel and stopping power when I did actually need them!
Any improvement would be welcome to say the least.

Are they grooved or drilled at all? As I think it really adds to the look of the wheels.Gassing Station | HSV & Monaro | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
