Camshaft sensor stuck

Does anyone have any tips for how to remove a stubborn CPS?! It moved about 5mm, then stopped and now I've ripped off the plastic surround....

Now thinking about drilling a small pilot hole for a self tapping screw but I'm worried that even that's going to rip out if it's lodged in good and proper.

Seems like it only need to come out another few mm to get clear of the rubber seal...!

Broke mine getting it out of front cover when I built my engine, luckily I could tap it through cover but was really tight, can you get mole grips on and rotate as you pull it out.

Wil have a go with the self tapping screw, taking care not to go all the way through the sensor... there's not much for some molegrips to grab hold of
