Quick question can coils from an LS2 replace those on a CV8, they look identical, mine are originals at 119k and I have an intermittent misfire, HT leads changed so its coils next as plugs done circa 16k ago

The hole spacing for the mounts on the valve covers is different. I think the loom is different too, on LS2 they connect on the opposite side to the HT lead.

But any of the coils that have different mounts or connectors...also look very different.

But you say the ones you are referring to look identical ?

Pics would help.

Via Ebay, allegedly off a VXR8 LS2

Also has two 02 sensors, same question applies. I have a misfire and it may well be sensor or coils given I am confident on plugs and leads

And do yours look "identical" or not ?

There is only one coil type that will be the same as that. Anything different will look different.

The coil packs on the car are different however the Monkfish replacement parts are identical to the ones in the pic hence the confusion

Some of the earlier coils that are different, do use the same wiring connector ok, most later ones use a smaller connector.

And as some mention, the actual coils themselves can have slightly different bolt spacings.

Really if you're looking to buy replacement coils, buy complete coils/brackets/wiring, that way there will be no fitting issues.

You can sometimes find new takeoffs on egay etc

Are you sure Monkfish have the right picture on their listing?

If you've got an LS1 (cable throttle body most obvious way to identify) then the coils won't fit as the wiring is different (to the best of my knowledge)

The large white plug in the middle of the coil pack assembly is the same for pretty much all cars.

But later type coils do use a smaller 4 pin connector compared to earlier LS1 type coils. All wiring is the same, just the coil connector is different.

Hence why the safest and easiest thing if you are not sure, is to buy complete.
