Hello!

Hope you lot are well. I'm currently having a clear out so I can buy myself a monaro or a vxr8. My aristo is away only my trusty audi to go. All going well by the end of the month I will be ready to take the plunge.
I was wondering if any owners stay anywhere close to me so I can get my backside in one maybe even a run (fuel tokens supplied) to see if I like it. There seems to be a shortage of them for sale north of the border. I stay in Dumbarton just a few miles from Glasgow so if there any of you that can help give me a shout and we could sort something out.
Or if any of you have any tips on what to watch out for when buying that will also be gratefully received.

I'm afraid I'm nowhere near you but there are one or two I believe in your area. You say Monaro or VXR8, big difference in price what is your budget going to be. Monaros go from 7k to 16k and a VXR8 start at around the 15k mark.

The buyers guide is decent, check the drivetrain is good in particular the gearbox on the Monaro and that it has been undersealed and is free from rust. The engines are big old lumps so mileage wont be too much of an issue especially if motorway mileage, bear in mind though these are 12 to 13 year old cars and will have some issues even a well looked after one will have to have some money spent on it somewhere (I can vouch for that)

Good luck in the hunt and keep checking the for sale section on PH as the car will be owned by an enthusiast

Unfortunately I sold my VE vxr8 last year. Nearly bought one in Dunbarton around 2011 (from he butcher there) - dithered too long, got mine in Southampton a month or so later.

KevBridgend has a modded LS2 down Kilwinning way. Will is down in Ayrshire too - think hes recently upgraded to a GenF though. Couple of others in Edinburgh.

Might be better to make your thread title a more obvious request?

Thanks, I had actually forgotten all about this forum part on pistonheads didn't realise how many sections there are on the forum side. Hence the low post count.
I should have a budget of around 16k so will be keeping my eyes peeled on the for sale side of the site hopefully by end of the month the money will be ready for some v8 fun

For that money its a standard (ish) VXR8 or an extremely low mileage and well sorted Monaro with cash to spare for some more goodies, the choice as they say is yours

Hi guys yes still got my yellow 1 and william has the 1 from edinburgh.. and paul is correct now running well over 700bhp..possibly could be up for sale later in the year as new gtsr ordered
