Hi,

On my 04 VXR Started getting some rougher sounding noises when braking and suspected pads getting low.

A quick check an pads on outside face of front disks look fine, and hardly any wear to disk. However, when checking inside face the pads are low and there is noticeable wear and quite a lip on the edge of the disks. This is true for both sides.

I've checked and the calipers seem to be moving freely on the pins. Has anybody else seen wear like this? All I can think of is it's a result of mainly light breaking and the design of the brakes/single sided piston?

Replaced all the disks a couple of years ago with DBA ones, and not done a huge amount of miles either. frown

The only thing I experience is that the inner side of discs rust up more if car is not used often, and this I presume will wear pads more due to rubbing off the rust. If you use yours more regular than I do, and the caliper sliders are free , then sorry I cannot help, hoepfully some one will help you shortly.

The inside on pretty much every car seems to wear a lot more than the outer face. It's odd, but perfectly normal

the inner pads as are more enclosed tend to get more dust and grit on them which tends not to be washed off as the outer pads are so more wear suffered by inner pads

I had exactly the same on my VXR8 - it failed an MOT (the first I think) because of this; I checked the outside pads as they were visible, but the inside were close to nought.

If this is the case keep swapping back to front and front to back so to even wear on pads
