When I first purchased the car I was looking to replace the missing ring and cracked fog light lens. Whilst £20 for the fog light was fine, £70 for the ring was beyond palatable.

Ben however came to the rescue with a couple of 3d printed ones. One was amber and had a smooth finish however the OD was too small meaning it didn't cover up the area of bumper that the old ring had pulled the paint off.

The second was a black one with a rough stepped finish. The OD was slightly larger so it covered the area it needed to.
I used 2 grades of wet & dry to get it to an acceptable finish. A several coats of paint and it looks great IMO.

Managed to avoid removing the bumper to replace the lens. Not a very good design from HSV/VX.

Nice work Ben, you should make some more of these!

Looks good, happy to help cool

The rough finish is how they come off an FDM printer, I guess I had sanded the other one a bit too much (was it finished in red/brown primer?).

What should the OD be? Was the ID ideal?

ID was perfect. OD was only 1-2mm short on the amber/brown one. The OD can't really be too big, as long as it covers the adhesive patch on the bumper.
