Putting in holes for vacuum lines (some funny angles involved, good use for a 3D printer smile).

Good enough for me given the geometries involved...

Started cleaning up the castings but decided crinkle black was easier and more interesting.

Making gaskets...

While I had access I added an oil pressure sender.

Made an IAC housing...the filter and vacuum manifold aren't staying where they are shown.

I didn't want to cut the barrel off the original throttle cable, so I made this slotted bolt...far more work in it than it looks, but I did choose a bloody hard bolt! M6 outer, M4 inner, and 3D printed mitre box to help guide the saw blade.

TPS modded to reach the connector at the front (wiper may be backwards in this pic!).

Many, many fiddly M5 bolts later, making progress and noise. Do not underestimate the fear in initial balancing of two banks of throttle bodies...you have to remember the left TBs feed the right WB, and vice versa...whilst the car struggles to idle down (too much air, can't pull enough spark). It's all a bit sensitive given how small the opening is on each TB. Dual 4x vacuum gauges shown, again care required to remember which refers to what!

Horns on, and no longer occupying the 'spare' ramp at the friendly local garage.

Temporary bodged IAT, IAC and front TPS connections to get me home.

So far everything has been reversible, in case I want to go back. I'm having fun. Ish. Also lots of "shouldn't have started this..." hehe

Most pressing remaining problems:
  • cable travel insufficient to reach 100% throttle
  • need to make airboxes
  • lots of tidying jobs

Nice work. Good to see a thought out process.

Be interested to how it runs and many seem to struggle to get them set right.

Nice job again Ben. Puts the pros to shame. I'm assuming you will be either sticking huge cam in there or giving its a shot (or both)?

Where did you get the drill clamp from?

I think a big-ish cam could be on the cards if all goes well...although it is only a 5.7 and I don't want to lose anything down low...might have to see what Pat G thinks, I'm not sure if conventional wisdom applies smile

The table clamps are axminster: http://www.axminster.co.uk/accessories/machinery-a...

Do you know the cam spec?

I would be hesitant to go beyond current lift (.60x") as I believe in the OE rockers, but I think more duration is an idea.

It has its uses...notice that the plastic tends to end up in the bin though smile

More printing required to make the airboxes!
