R8 bonnet won't close!

Popped the bonnet to check fluid levels, now it won't close! Just seems to bounce off the latch!

Anyone had this before and can give any advice?

Yes, the latch has got dry. I was at Duxford when this happened, and dribbled some engine oil in the mechanism then kept trying to close it, to work oil into the pivot point.

Once it clicked shut, I left it until I got home. It has been fine since.

plus check the lever in the footwell to open it is pushed all the way back in again

Yep. Had it happen on a frozen morning. Clean, lubricate & a covering of white grease & mines been fine since (2 years).

One of the VXR8s i viewed while is was looking to buy had this happen, the salesman could not get to shut either.

Hey guys, Lubed it well a few hours ago and left it to set in, but still no joy.

If it makes sense to anyone, the whole mechanism Is very hard to move. Really stiff but it does move.

Ignore me, I left the last lot of lube set in, but I just went mental with it, proper caked the lube on and tried again. it worked!
