I am thinking of an upgrade but can't find much out about fitment into VY ute and what is needed, prop etc. Has anyone on here got a T56 Magnum in anything?

If my memory is correct ? I think? Emmaj had a T56 Magnum fitted to her Monaro.
Monkfish may have some info on that. I believe they are very very expensive!

Why do you need one. What's wrong with your gearbox?

D&D, Tick, RPM etc etc will all build you a direct swap T56 Magnum as opposed to the generic Magnum that will require work to fit.

Emma's was an RSG Tranzilla I believe. Not sure if they offer those in T56 fitment, or if they are all the standard Tremec Magnum variants..

My box is a little notchy , I notice it even going into reverse and track day wise coming down the box from 120 I need to get it into gear or I spend half the time scratching for gears and trying not to get it on the grass. Maybe it needs a rebuild but power wise not sure standard boxes can cope, it's not it's first box so I'm told.
Don't think I would get a box from the U.S , if I need something sorting out if it failed postage would be steep.

Sounds more like a clutch issue than box.

And a standard T56 can cope wit a lot of power. Although I've changed some parts in mine...all gears are standard. They are strong boxes, although obviously random stuff can break or wear over time unrelated to power etc.

But a Magnum is just better all round. Unless you can do some fabrication, sort the propshaft, alter shift mechanism...then a standard Magnum is not for you.

The box is longer than a T56, the shift position further forward ( Although Sikky do offer a more rearward shifter ), the only slight benefit is a cheaper initial purchase price vs a Magnum that is a direct swap for a T56 ( albeit with a larger output spline requiring a new yoke )

I think Emmas car is still for sale. Why not swap gearboxes with hers and then sell her car on? I think it's around £15k at the moment, but I think that offering a TT for £12k after the swap would be snapped up.

Pointless spending that money on an old T56.

I don't think I could warrant spending lots of cash on a hole car to by a gearbox, although what spec engine does her car have? as I am thinking about forged internals for mine. I might have to give Tick a call to see what the price for freight is.
But after Stevie saying about a possible clutch issue I may have to try bleeding my clutch first.

I think Craig/Dynotorque has done a few ?

Or Gearboxman gets mentioned too.

They arent overly difficult to take apart and work at though.

D&D are probably cheapest for the T56 Magnums which for most part would be a direct swap for the old T56. Price even seems to have went down from a while back.
Although crappy exchange rate will soon fix that lol

How much power do you put out. The stock gearbox runs quite happily up to 1000hp.

Gearboxman in Markyate did a gearbox for me. I'd get yours refreshed first. You can always sell it if you're unhappy with the results.

The ute puts out 522rwhp, maybe a rebuild could be a good thing and see how it goes.
I might have to give Craig a call.

That shouldnt trouble any of the T56's. It isnt to say yours might have issues for whatever reason, but they can handle that sort of power with ease.

The main benefit with the later transmissions like the TR6060 and the T56 Magnum is not so much the strength as the extra synchro's on the gears. Makes for a much smoother shift especially with 1st and reverse.
