Thinking about doing heads and intake now for a while on my VXR

Have the opportunity to run a set of Dart Pro1 heads, Fast 102 and whilst at it replace lifters, truinion rocker bearings etc.
My figures are at for the parts around £1500ish

What would you do, go for it? Im just a tight arse and for me quite a chunk to shell out!
Car already has a cam and headers/sports cat etc so should make it a nice runner after

How do you come to the cost being 1500 for those parts

Thats very cheap and with your cam you should see some good gains. You could always sell your ls2 heads for around 450 to offset the cost even more

As above, sounds very cheap! Definitely do it for that money.

Which trunnion upgrade? Be careful...

Would be the comp trunion, I did look at the comp gold (I think that's the name) lifters also, but heard mixed reviews on them fouling the heads

Don't do it!

I've got the Straub bronze bushings now, but I needed to lose the Summit kit I was running as they all seem inadequately hardened...I'd stay standard, or go Che/Straub.

Wow, that's quite some damage.
The straub ones are quite cheap, at $159

Thanks for the info!

Lots of people have jumped on the Straubs, hopefully they work out...they will wear eventually, but should go more gracefully than the alternatives (get noisy/sloppy). The standard trunnions are probably the best no-maintenance option, just more likely to do lots of damage if/when they fail.

Yea with my car at 100k just seems silly not to replace them whilst doing the heads (likewise with the lifters)

Do you know the specs of the heads? Seems like there are a few variants.
