Which Diff Oil
Discussion
Hi Guys, I know this question as been asked in the past, but forgot the answer regarding lsd diff oil to use.
At present I have Royal purple with friction modifier, and I still get hunting of the drive sometimes when making slow tight turns, such as turning in a cul-de-sac even when adding more modifier.
I have checked the usual things like play in drive shafts, prop shaft driveline including centre bearing,
( recently changed). Therefore I am pretty sure its the lubrication oil that the lsd does not like.
So my question is what oil should I change to,( preferably without adding a modifier) so the problem is sorted. I know some of you out there will have the answer, thanking you in advance.

Hi guys update on diff oil.
Purchased the Castrol oil recommended above, drained diff oil out and it was black (royal purple), the oil as been changed 3 times now in 57,000 miles.
Put new oil in and now no clunking great.
But why the oil so black?
In my experience diff oil should not get that black, any thoughts guys.

Black normally means Carbon (i.e. from oil burning). Let us know how you get on with the Castrol.Purchased the Castrol oil recommended above, drained diff oil out and it was black (royal purple), the oil as been changed 3 times now in 57,000 miles.

Black oil is quite normal and still doing its work as it should, additives in oil are normally the cause of it going dark in colour, if it was lighter in colour then chances are water has mixed with the oil but that would be unheard of on a road car, if your oil was thick and dark then it time for concern.

I have never been keen on RP
I`ve read numerous posts on this forum and was a little torn, both Monkfish and MWP use it for the cars so I will be swayed by them but its all about opinions. Out of interest mate what are you running in yours?steve2568 said:
