Torque gains from remap
Discussion
I think a remap is worth about 10% increase in HP and the same in TQ on a N/A engine. I'm no that sure about RPM increase , but I suspect you will have to rev the engine a little higher than stock.
If you have other supporting mods such as exhaust and a better cold air intake you will no doubt get more.
And don't forget it will all depend on the state of your engine in the first place, not to mention how good...or not the guy doing the actual tuning is.
My standard 05 Monaro was rated at 350Hp and 376TQ when it was new. With a full exhaust, cold air and remap it put down an even 325 Hp and 325 TQ at the rear wheels. Monaro's usually loose around 100HP through drive train losses.

Actually there is lots on the table on a stock CV8 with just a remap. Attention to airflow will help but you wont want (need) long tube headers. Shorties or tri Y's will get you the mid range you really need, and you will only need 1 5/8" primaries, but if you do this you will also want to improve the induction.
Good question, something I have asked numerous times for my 05 CV8 but could never get an answer
A lucky LS3 owner got a 7% increase from Super chips - with believable before as after dino torque curves. As I understand it this is just from fueling and timing, airflow would be virtually unchanged. Presumably some finer points of emissions is sacrificed - re Volkswagen with diesels I guess.
Everything else I have seen looked to have been fiddled or at least subject to sloppy errors.
I well know well respected tuner claimed a 20% increase for the 04 CV8 - clearly not believable but they would not be told otherwise.
Yes shorten your gearing if you have not done already, particularly if you want to keep up with the new kid on the block - the Mustang!
