Took my vxr8 to Castle Motors by Castle Combe circuit today to run on their dyno. Graph is below car spec is
LS2 VXR8 (auto)
Monkfish Magic Cam + High ratio rockers
Fast 102 Intake
VCM OTR
Walkinshaw headers, cats, bi-modal catback
Be interested if anyone has any comments this is the first time i've run this (or any) car on a dyno

Just a power run? How did you find them? I was considering them for a bit of spark mapping since Powerstation in Tewkesbury are no more.
Yeah, they checked the fuelling while doing it while they said was standard. I've never taken the car for a power run anywhere else so hard to give much of a verdict but they seemed to know what they were doing. Their FB shows a decent selection of interesting cars being tinkered with on the dyno as well.Z0m81e said:

Normal, though not sure what answer I was expecting. Not much choice in the area!maccavvy said:
ive got a ls1 Ro. it has 331 at the wheels and according to Rog at MF he said its 420 ish fly
so if yours is 430 ish wheels its well over 500 fly
I read in an old thread on here divide by .8 for a manual .75 for an auto then did that and assumed it had to be wrong as the number was over 550 which seems unrealistically high.so if yours is 430 ish wheels its well over 500 fly

Looks a nice result as we no all rolling roads read different
Indeed, there was some odd business with the coastdown part of the run which he said could be affecting the number slightly. I meant to ask after but forgot. Something to do with it being an auto running up with the gear manually selected then having to select drive then neutral for it to coastdown so there was a big variance on the start of the coastdown line as the auto box shifted. I don't know if there's a way to avoid that or if its just something you have to put up with on an auto.ARAF said:
I agree that the difference between wheels and flywheel is wrong. Should be around 100hp difference. Did they lock the torque converter for the power run?
They plugged into it but looked like a fairly normal scanner type thing to watch the timing and the like so i'd be surprised if they did. Until I just googled it I didn't even know that was a thing so I didn't know to ask.Phillphill said:

Doesnt the Power @ Engine of 475hp mean flywheel power?so if yours is 430 ish wheels its well over 500 fly
It's academic really, as the measured hp is at the wheels, and that's what gets you up the road, not the calculated flywheel figures.

Yes, but transmission losses on these cars is greater than 40hp, so something is wrong with the calculated figures.

This ^^^^. Calculated fly figure is a nonsense. It's academic really, as the measured hp is at the wheels, and that's what gets you up the road, not the calculated flywheel figures.
430 at the wheels is a good result (which is the actual work done). Certainly comfortably north of 500 bhp at the flywheel. That over 100 bhp up on a stock car.
If this is an auto, it will still be lower than reality due to convertor slip.

Looks like a good result.
Your spec is similar to mine albeit I don't have the fast intake.
I'd like to get mine on the rollers at SRR soon.... anyone keen for another SRR day??
Yep I'm up for a SRR day Your spec is similar to mine albeit I don't have the fast intake.
