Struggling with part numbers a bit as I think the Pontiacs are different - is this the same as a monaro VY fuel filter?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PETROL-FUEL-FILTER-48100...

Obviously I'll pay the £41 and get one from MF if it's not OE quality or right.

http://www.monkfishperformance.co.uk/fuel-filter-0...

It appears to be called a z586 in Oz, although noone in the uk seems to use that name. The corsa/jag/alfa/others is a 48100003, which is the same for all I know...

If this picture is correct:- http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Holden-Commodore-V8-VT-...

Then maybe this would do - Saab/Vauxhall 25313359
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Saab-Vauxhall-Fuel-Filte...

I believe these are other companies that make an equivalent of the Ryco Z586 number you quoted.
Dunno if it's of any help though...

ACDELCO ACF120
BOSCH 0986450219 (maybe GH219 also)
SFA FS6503
OEM (EFI GMH) 95075337
PUROLATOR F69708
REPCO RFF121
RYCO Z586
SAKURA FS6503
WESFIL WZ586
A.L. ALG4580Z2
JS FS580J

clap

Ah yes, daft of me if z586 is just Ryco's PN. Thanks - does make you wonder what the difference is between a £6 fuel filter and a £40 fuel filter is...the plastic clip? hehe

You could always try this one for £2.40 - can't go wrong at that price!

Ridiculous isn't it? Needs to be reassuringly expensive (TM) hehe

Just to update this thread - the cheap filter I bought (25313359) only has a 5/16" (7.9mm) OD sized inlet/outlet, whereas the monaro has 3/8" (9.5mm). A monaro needs more fuel throughput than a corsa...who'd have thought? hehe

I neglected to consider the return to the tank in my initial buy of fuel fittings/hoses/hard line. The outlet of the plastic tee after the fuel filter looks like a 3/8" quick release, so I hope to put my expensive AN-6 adapter on that (rather than straight on the filter) and retain the current rubber hose to the tank. If the plastic tee cannot be retained I suppose I will use an AN-6 tee and a hose barb fitting with jubilee clip (assuming enough of the return hose can be saved) - the return line looks like 5/16" ID hose.

That said, the straps for the fuel tank look pretty sad, so it's tempting to drop the tank and refresh it all. Does anyone know what the connectors onto the fuel tank are?

I don't want to disable my car for longer than it takes to do the job, hence the planning/over-thinking...

this may not help , senator 3 litre 24 valve looks the same including connections , it was updated to a bmw one i think it was for a 530 bmw as a larger filter allowed more flow it was a noticeable improvement as less restriction

Thanks - armed with that knowledge I may try GSF or eurocarparts and ask for a quick look at their filters (calipers in hand) smile

Scouring ECP, it looks like all those Saab/Vauxhall/BMW filters have the flare right at the end, and I think they're all 8mm (well, probably 7.9mm/5/16").

Ade,

I don't think there is a separate filter on the later cars.
I think the filter is inside the fuel tank and part of the fuel pick up!..so how and if you need to change it I really don't know.

Thanks for that John, if correct what a stupid set up. First thing I will know when its to renew filter, is when the engine comes to a coughing halt.

Doesn't this mean that being always immersed in petrol, the filter is kept flushed and impurities don't clog-up the filter. Think of the filter as a strainer rather than a collector of crud.

It's a closed system, and once the filter is clogged it's clogged as far as I know... Mine's obviously rusted a tad but at least it's accessible smile

A fuel filter is micron size filtration, so would have thought a strainer type screen would not be good enough for the injectors. Could do with Monkfish clarifying this for us, or some one that as removed a in tank filter.

FWIW it's part of the fuel pump assembly on GTOs - check out GM 92146684 and this thread: http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3320...

Photo at the bottom of Page 1 shows the filter set-up and the thread states the filter itself (under that part no.) can be bought.
