So after owning my monaro for nearly a year I decided to bite the bullet and rather than doing a regular bird poo removal type wash and a quick vacuum I went the whole hog and and did an extensive (so I thought) detailing on the paintwork.

The whole process took me nearly a day to complete but the results were pretty awsome.

I have no idea what other people use as detailing products but I stuck with the old faithful being autoglym.

Somebody is bound to say something about the order in which I did but here goes anyway.....

Rinse, with pressure washer.
Foam party with pleasure washer.
Treat wheels with wheel cleaner.
Rinse whole car.
Wash with ph neutral shampoo lightly with sponge.
Rinse car again with pressure washer.
Chamonix (sp) dry entire car.
As it's a black car the tar spots were pretty impossible to find.
Clay bar and using rapid detailer as lube the whole car, bonnet done twice as the clay stuff was absolutely filthy.
Ph neutral shampoo and light sponge again.
Rinse with pressure washer again.
Chamonix (sp) dry entire car again.
Hand Polish with super resin Polish the whole car.
Buff off Polish and use dry compressed air to remove resin dust.
Here comes the expensive bit!!!
Autoglym HD wax on (took bloody ages).
Wax off buff/removal.
Glass Polish windows inside and out.
Rain-x all outside of windows and buff.
Vinyl and rubber care dashboard and plastics then buff to shine.
Leather food cream on the seats and buff off.
Vacuum as much as I could see and clean the mats.
Add two california scents tin things (one in the boot and one in front of the gear stick.

After all said and done the Monaro looked absolutely fantastic and smelled pretty good too. Yes the whole process was timely and my wrists were killing me the day after but it was so worth it, even if it was only just for one day before some bird decided to open its ass and relive his entire weeks worth of crap all over the bonnet and front wing....

It sounds like a lot of time spent but I really was hoping all these "magic" products would be worth the money as she is a gorgeous car.

I suppose Im really asking peoples view as to what you all do to keep your fantastic cars looking the way they do and what products have made for fantastic results???

Not a great detailed picture as file size needed to be compressed but here she is

Peachy. p.m me when you want to move her on, first love and all that. Sure I can squeeze another somewhere on the drive.

looks great,

I did mine the other day, cannot be bothered to do that again!
I just palm it off to someone who likes detailing!

Good job. clap

As a bit of detailer on the side all I'd say is drop the chamois leather & sponge for a large microfibre towel & wool wash mitt & if your clay is getting that dirty you need to initially fold it more often & use a 2nd or even a 3rd piece.
