VXR8 Auto box recalibration worth it?
Discussion
Brought the wife an Auto VXR8, compared to my manual Bathurst S it feels sluggish and the box in normal and sport mode just feels lazy? (Ok its not Supercharged but I expected a bit more (maybe to much?) - press the pedal and it feels like a delay whilst it decides what to do?). This is the only VXR8 Auto I have driven so I thought I'd ask you guys is this just normal for these and is the walky auto box recalibration worth it?.
2008 model with 83k miles on her apart from this just a good big cruiser that she loves.

when I booted it, it did kick down (then went into safety mode!! and limp home- shake rattle and roll ) having said that just did 100 miles in her today in sport and it was considerably better. I think she has been sat and from previous V8 experiences they need to be used. car is getting better each time we use it without a doubt.
Maybe my right foot is just quicker than the box and the car is used too.

Give Paul Spinks at Wortec a shout. I'm not exaggerating when I say that he transformed the way mine shifts. Standard they're a real slushbox!
He removed almost all the flaring and set the shift time as quick as to still be comfortable and not shock the geartrain.
This is about quarter throttle, just enough to get it to go all the way up through the gears :

Remapping them makes a big difference - theres plenty of information on the net on how to do it yourself. Reducing the shift times too much or reducing the torque management during shifts could easly lead to burnt clutches or broken hard parts.
My approach was to reduce the desired shift times a little bit and to change the gear mappings to stop it always wanting to change up into a higher gear - this prevents the delay when flooring it, as it only needed to drop down one gear rather than wait for a double gear change.
I've shared my experience of remapping my own box here: www.hptuners.co.uk
That was a few years ago now - i should think there's even more knowledge out there now, especially the US tuning forums.
If there's any suggestion of the box slipping or changing wrongly don't start messing about with the mapping (either yourself or via a pro).
