Was reading about new VED rates from April 2017. Couldn't quite decide if summarized it meant all cars or just all new cars would be subject to the new flat rate of £140.

Imagine ...£140 to tax a V8.....Ho Ho Ho.....I probably misread it though.

I think all cars registered before April 17 will remain as they are!

yes new rates will only apply to newly registered vehicles, so unfortunately not retrospective.

I had thought the same as bought 9 mth old Focus ST3 TDCi last week for wife and its £20 p/a. when I had paid for it guy then says "oh by the way next year tax will be £140" eek

but then read online new rates only apply to new cars reg from 04/17

so now Focus is remapped to 220bhp to get moneys worth as wont be any saving on the other 2 x V8s next year

Same old thing, now every one wants the low tax for environment friendly cars, now put the tax up.
It was same with diesel when they want you to go a certain way dangle carrot then whip you.
