beat me to it biggrin

I know Craig built an LS1 powered Mk1 MX5.

I saw it hidden in the corner of his unit, it looked totally standard from the outside, just a touch lower and slightly larger wheels

On Mazda's, I know RX7's are popular, but I hadn't seen an RX8 with one in it too. That looked like it was supposed to be there.

Its surprising Mazda never did a better version with a decent V6 or something.

They have engines in their range that would have really improved the MX5 over the weedy 4cyl they've always fitted.

Of course an LS is even better lol

^ It may be because the car was never designed with a larger engine in mind so in order to factory fit something more potent they'd have had to redesign the chassis?

Privateers don't have the concerns of manufacturers so can get on with it :-)

but a more potent 4 pot would be possible.

Even say the 200hp or so 2.5 V6 would be a great upgrade and sound a lot better than a crappy 4cyl.

Would have been easy for them to do...but who knows.
