Hello all,

I know there have probably been several threads on this before, but I was wondering who people insure their modified Monaros with, specifically supercharged ones.

I am 22 and currently own a Monaro VXR (second car only covering circa. 5k miles per year, garaged) with a cat back exhaust and a generic map, and insure it through Adrian Flux. I am currently looking to step up to a supercharged Monaro/VXR8, but am having great difficulty getting any insurance quotations on one.

Adrian Flux will insure me on one, but the quotations are more than double my current premium, most other companies won't quote at all. The problem seems to be with the vehicle value, rather than the modifications.

Does anybody have any suggestions of companies they use?

I have currently tried; Adrian Flux, as mentioned above, Greenlight, and Sky Insurance.

Thanks, Mark

Blimey, that might be difficult due to age etc.

Try the following (may include some you have already tried)

Sky insurance
A Plan
Need 2 insure
Elephant
Adrian Flux
Admiral
Greenlight insurance

Good luck.

My heavily modified cv8 is with sky. But I'm an old git so it is probably just down to your age. Good luck!!

I had my Monaro comparatively young (24 I think it was, getting so old hehe) and was with Admiral, they're worth a go.

Brentacre are who mine is with at the moment. When I had other modified cars when I was a bit younger they always came out best. An did this time on the Monaro too. It was insured with Sky previously, but they could not beat the Brentacre quote.

Brenatacre do it a little differently than most. You set a horse power limit and any mods up to that are included and covered like for like. Which is what I liked. So no charges for adding in anything really.

Well after many helpful suggestions, thanks to everyone who responded, I got the insurance down to a reasonable amount, through A-Plan, sadly, the car I had lined up has now sold.
I'll keep my eyes peeled as I'm sure another will pop up soon enough.
