Hi guys, wondering if anyone can offer any advice? My engine management light keeps coming on. It's been to the dealer I bought it from and they said there were no fault codes showing rolleyes
It kept on happening so they said they would send it to their Vauxhall specialist to check the codes and sure enough a fault was found. Apparently they did a smoke test and an air leak was found behind the supercharger. So , 2 weeks later I get the car back and low and behold the light comes back on again. This was after breaking down and having the car fixed by the aa but that's another matter! laugh
That was due to a leak from a pipe in the cooling system
Anyway, the problem I keep having is that when I'm stuck in traffic, the engine warning light keeps coming on. It's almost as though the car doesn't like sitting there idling and not enough air is getting to it. It was particularly bad whilst sitting in traffic going through a long tunnel. Every couple of minutes the warning was going off.
Does anyone have any experience of this? Any ideas what the issue may be? A faulty sensor perhaps? Or something else?
Cheers thumbup

Sounds exactly like what I've been going through. it threw fault up intermittently until I replaced maf sensor.
Now, like you mine only does it when crawling in heavy traffic. I recently repaired an intake air leak an it's the same.

Cheers mate. I forgot to add, it used to cut out too leaving me without steering and brakes! It hasn't done this again yet. Maybe I'll just take it to someone who knows what they're doing like monkfish!!

My revs also dip below idle speed when crawling or slowing to a stop.
Keep us posted smile

If the light is on, there will be fault code information. What is this telling you ?

Hi Stevieturbo, I haven't had it looked at yet but will be taking it to the garage on Monday. Hopefully they will find the source this time!
Cheers

If they claim there are no codes, it just means their equipment wont read the codes. If light is on, there are codes stored.

Whether or not that tells the problem is another matter but it would be a starting point.

Aye, that's what happened last time. They then sent it to their specialist who confirmed there was an air leak. We'll see what happens this time! To be honest, I bloody love the car but I'm starting to think I should try and get my money back and buy a different one! biggrin

Don't. If your heart is set, then swapping won't help. Weird, how these cars seem to throw a hissy fit when they change owners. It happens all the time, but once you get it sorted, it will be fine - and I'm betting it's something very simple.

Stick with it, and get it to someone that knows how these cars behave (and what the fault codes really mean). smile

Aye, the good thing is it has a 15 month warranty so I should get all of the niggles sorted in that time! laugh
If these muppets can't find the fault it will be going to monkfish as soon as I get the time!

Ain't that the truth try telling the new owners this is what they ALL DO they think I am mad. had two happened twice at first, then all good for thousands of miles. Sold them and both had a sulking fit. You have to earn the right to own one I reckon the car decides how much grief the new owner deserves. called ours Christine from the movie.
