Is this a coolant line?
Discussion
Hey, I'm just wanting to clarify that the hard line shown in this photo (the on that has a rubber hose going to it and then a hard line from one side of the block to the other) is a coolant line? I want to replace it but before I go unbolting it I want to be sure what it's for to avoid a coolant spillage

The hard metal pipe linking the front of the cylinder heads is part of the coolant system. Earlier LS engines had a four way set-up, also using holes at the rear of the heads. These holes bleed off bubbles from the top of the engine, hence the name "steam port".
Exactly that it means you don't need to bleed your coolant system after a refill as it does it automatically. On newer like yours it's just a crossover. On older ones all four link and joins under the intake. Gassing Station | HSV & Monaro | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
