Mr Flux has quoted well over 700 notes for my Ute renewal. Can't understand why it keeps going up when my age increases too!

Anyone point me in the direction of a lower premium company please.

Same here with my Monaro, policy seems expensive and only goes up every year with Flux. Everyone seems to be recommending Sky Insurance, i'll certainly be contacting them when im due for renewal.

I'm with admiral on a single car policy paying under £400 for the Monaro, always found flux expensive

I'm on an Admiral multi car policy too. Renewed it last month and the Ro dropped to under £300.

When you're under 25, insurers tell you it's expensive because you're under 25.
When you're over 25, they tell you it's expensive because you're under 30.
When you're 30, they seem to consider you not gullible enough to believe that guff in my experience.

I've used Sky Insurance for many years now and really can't fault them.

Just got a renewal from Hastings for £380. Protected fully comp including extra for the Monkfish performance pac. Without it it was £359. I'm 42 btw! Thought that was not too bad really. VXR8 09.

I've worked in the insurance industry for many years and can confirm that age is a key factor in motor insurance. Most motor insurance premiums are calculated using automated pricing tools. Actuaries and pricing analytics guys work hard to ensure that sum of the premiums can cover running the company and paying the claims. Price variation occurs for a number of reasons. It's never personal or driven by corporate greed.

Think of insurance is a combination of running a savings club and a bookies. Big claims hit the savings leading to increase premiums. Motor insurance these days has to cope with much bigger payments than days gone by. Even a minor bump tends to lead to a hefty whiplash claim or two.

Don't get mad. Just shop around until you find the cheapest insurer you're prepared to go with. I'd recommend shopping around at every renewal.

I think its only fair to compare import Utes and Maloos quotes together as the UK VX cars will be cheaper ie VXR8 and Ro as they always load import premiums and they are not a car

try sky as said ^

Got rid of Flux years ago. They start off competitive then just keep hiking.

I'm currently with Need to Insure who aren't the cheapest but not far off. These were cheaper using the same underwriters as Flux , so there you have it.

Thanks for all your responses very helpful. Will try Flux first and then head for Sky if no reduction.

Our Ute is with A Plan, Milton Keynes. Under £500 with upgrades covered.

Not sure there's more than 1 underwriter for these vehicles, so the difference is what the brokers think they can skim from you.

Was that yours at Monkfish last week, with the rear bumper off?

Just another thumbs up for Sky, and thanks to all for the recommendation. Great price for the Monaro at £460 mods included, and 30 days Euro cover, great result. (39 years old 9 yrs+ no claims)

Just switched to Sky today. 25 with 7 years no claims, came to 840. Much cheaper than Admiral's joke of a renewal and subsequent reduced price.

Admiral multi car are great but they won't touch anything that has a power adder - they wouldn't even tough my Legacy when I mention larger intercooler!
