Check engine light
Discussion
Same model and year, mine comes on makes no difference to the way the car runs. It turns itself off after a few minutes. Traffic and poor fuel seem to make it come on. Doesn't seem to bother the car. I will check at the next service but it's likely to be the O2 sensors as previously mentioned.

Mine does it when stood in traffic for a lengthy time..never shows anything on code reader though
Mine does the same because of fuel trims shooting straight up after I take my foot off gas.It used to do it randomly while driving until I cleaned MAF sensor and eventually replaced it.

Mine has been doing this recently. Always when i'm sitting in traffic. And also cutting out, sometimes when i'm coasting to a halt, leaving me without steering or brakes..It went into limp mode recently and I couldn't go more than 10 mph and the engine was making a horrendous racket. I took it to where I bought it from (only recently) and said I didn't want it back until they had fixed the problem. Apparently it is due to an air leak in the engine. Also they need a new something or other from monkfish. I haven't had the car for over a week now. Hopefully they will get it fixed soon!

I've had it smoke tested which found some leaks which I've sorted and it's proven to be holding vacuum now, but it's behaving no better.
Can you keep us posted please?
It's a fairly regularly recurring thing that comes up on this forum, and was what led me to find this forum after a Google search as it happens, it won't show any codes and as said previously makes no difference to how the car drives. Mine did this a few random times and then started becoming more regular, I changed the O2 sensors and it's never happened again
Mine used to throw up th engine light when slowing down after a run but if I then put a slight pressure on throttle it would turn light off again.
Changed throttle body due to the way slight throttle application removed light.
Since new throttle body fitted no problems now.
throttle body not cheap, so try the same procedure I did to confirm its throttle body or it could be as others have stated previously.

Yeah that sounds similar to me. When coasting to a halt the revs drop to around 500 then immediately pick up again. It's never stalled though.

Update on mine for you as promised. I've just got it back from the garage after another 2 and a half weeks with them! I broke down as the engine temperature went up to the max, so I stopped immediately and called the aa. They advised there was a leak from a perished pipe attached to the coolant tank. After it being fixed temporarily, the engine light came on again on the way home - despite it being allegedly fixed last time. The pipe has now been sorted but they've advised they cant find the fault which causes the engine light to come on and the engine to cut out. They are hoping that the issues they've fixed will mean it doesn't happen again. I've said if it happens again, i'll be asking for my money back. I owned the car for 9 weeks but 6 of them it's been in the garage!
They have agreed to this so no real issues now for me. Fingers crossed its now fixed or i'll be looking for something else which i'll be gutted about as I love these!

Hey dude, well there's going to be a slight change of plan regarding getting to the bottom of my issue as my diff is now on it's last legs.Update on mine for you as promised. It's developed a grinding noise over the last few weeks which has become increasingly louder. Having a new one fitted on Friday.
May have to wait another month or two before having the rev dropping issue looked at as I've got 100k service, pas cooler and tyres all overdue now!
Did you not have low coolant warning before it ran out? I got a slow leak on mine and when it gets low enough it usually tells me.
Also do you know which pipe was knackered?
