Rust ruining my day
Discussion
To be totally honest since 2011 the vxr8 has done very little apart from sit out on the drive. I decided it was time to get her going as a daily again and knew the rear pads needed doing. Got her jacked up and caliper off to discover discs are corroded to hell with fronts not far behind, rear tyres knackered, pedders springs and anti roll bars flaking and rusting and bottom arms looking a bit crappy. Pretty peeved as was looking forward to using something comfier as a daily again. Guess she can sit there a while longer until I have time and interest to start figuring out what she needs. Bad times
Get the anti roll bars off and springs and get them blasted and powder coated at P.A.C.E in Union Mills , Mr Tunney's young lad does a nice job. My Pedders springs were flaky too, mine are nice and shiny now.
And you'll have to get a nice warm garage for it to live in like my ute has.

Not really sure why you would expect any different, and why mention pedders in your thread?
Anything would rust in that situation without protection, the underside of my Monaro is rust free after 6 years of ownership including my suspension, that's because I have taken steps to protect and maintain

Have to agree, any car will rust underneath left to the elements, if you just want to get it on the road, forget about how rusty the suspension parts are, wheels off, clean up discs with wire brush and emery cloth (coarse) and drive it, fingers crossed Pistons in calipers are not seized, keep an eye on the discs for heat, in first mile with light braking.

Discs are beyond a clean, inside faces have chunks missing so would be pointless fitting new pads. Mentioned pedders because that's what the car has fitted.....self explanatory I would have thought
Makes sense to me - you're not having a go at Pedders I'm sure - that just happens to be what they are.Gassing Station | HSV & Monaro | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
