The inside workings of a monaro door lock motor :-)
Discussion
My drivers door lock has recently stopped working so thought I would investigate, seeing as I could only find info about removing and replacing on the Internet thought I'd share what i did
Once it's out of the door I removed the white plastic loop part from the top which snaps in and out sideways then with a bit of gentle prying and levering removed the black cover part

Then there's enough flex in the plastic to get the screw shaft off its mounts and completely remove the gearing

Then I had a look for a fault of some sort but couldn't really see anything wrong with the soldered joints or the connections so assumed a it was a contact issue so gave the motor and microswitches a good dose of electrical contact spray
Then reconnected the disassembled motor to the car and ran the motor by locking and unlocking the door with the remote ( courtesy light switch needs to be held in to do this ) . I did this several times spraying in between with the cleaner.

Then reassembled all the bits and pieces and checked it was working which it was perfectly, so now I'll see how long it lasts

Bit of an update on this, after a few weeks the door lock stopped working again so me being not one to give up I stripped it down again and found that the white micro switch was at fault and worked intermittently so started broswing the Internet for some info on the switch. After a bit of digging I found this on the omega owners website

Excellent right up on replacing the micro switch so for £1.50 and three blobs of solder I'm back up and running . Hopefully that will be and end to the problem :-)
