How many original Monaro owners still on here?
Discussion
Spring appears to have sprung here in Orkney, and the Monaro has been dragged out of its cosy hibernation, the battery maintainer disconnected, the dehumidifier emptied for the last time and taken out, the car put up on high and the annual waxoyling ritual completed (after eventually finding all the special hoses and tubes made up for getting into all the nooks and crannies...)
It also prompts a look on here to see whats new, and noting an awful lot of threads of either "I'm selling up" or "I have bought my first Monaro!"
I wonder then how many of the other original Monaro owners from 2004 / 2005 still have their cars and are on here?
Cheers

I'm not sure if I qualify as an original owner, but I have had my VZ Monaro for almost 9 years. In fact it is on it's holiday in Cornwall as we speak!
Mind you I have been working out( again ) how much it is going to cost to do all the jobs I want sorting out on the car. I't works out pretty much the market value of the whole bloody car!
What to do?
Regards John

Bought my silver CV8 new in May 2004. Despite a house move, and then having to find another job due to being made redundant, I still have it. It's the only new car I've ever had, can't see me ever selling it now. They just don't make 'em like that anymore!

Read the post title & I was really hoping for a moment someone might actually have an HK, HT or HG out there.
Would love a mint HT...
This one's pretty special if you've a spare £103K!!!

Bought my '05 Odyssey CV8 new from Greens of Rainham, Kent who were a Wortec agent. They did the cat-back and re-map from new. I opted to have the centre mufflers deleted, they're still bubble wrapped somewhere in my garage!
Greens produced the supercharged VXR500 Monaro.
For a couple of years then, Vauxhall facilitated free passes for Monaros and all types of VXR owners' cars to the Touring Car race events up and down the country. I especially remember Donington where we went through the tunnel to the in-field. The Monaros were then lined up in colour order. To see about 4 each of the ultra rare yellow and Odyssey cars was special Black, red and silver are a bit ordinary!

Brought my Monaro VXR brand new off Picador's in 2006. Walked into the showroom and said I will take that. The salesman almost fell off his chair lol. 78k miles later and still makes me smile, best bang for buck ever and cant see it being sold until I am shipped off to a rest home :-)

When I first seen this post that's what I was thinking, got all excited thinking there were some hiding away somewhere in the U.K. I think I would much prefer a HQ though, a mate turned up at my house years ago in an original 350 HQ in orange I couldn't believe my eyes. It amazes me on what 60's and 70's Holden cars are going for, in 1990 I was offered an LJ Torana GTR for $1000 now it would probably be worth a small fortune. I didn't buy it because it wasn't an XU1.Would love a mint HT...

Hmmm, topic grammar could have been better then! Sorry for disappointing....
Good to see there are still some original owners still with their cars and around. Was starting to think we were a dying breed! I did debate replacing the Monaro with a VXR8 this year, but thats not come to any more than a notion and a webpage read so far. Chances are it will never happen.
