thought id put up a wee post, having owned my r8 for a couple of months now,,enjoying the car very much,,i look forward to having a go in it every time i get the chance, luv it,the only thing i can honestly say that lets the car down was the exhaust sounds(or lack of),so ordered a wortec from monkfish after watching and listening to loads of youtube vids and reading some threads with ppls opinions ,,the wortec is the one with the adjustable plate insert thingy,s
it arrived the other day there,,so i had the old mo-fo stripped off ready for it comming

it had this electric by-pass valve set up on it,which worked but still sounded ste imo,,when it was on open to me it was like the exhaust just sounded burst/leaking

anyways new one arrived

satin blacked the box faces showing out
took my time today and fitted it up,,,absolutely no problems atall,,fitted like a glove, its well made and a good piece of engineering imo and everything required to get the job done was included nowt missing, clamps bolts ect
put the plates with the big hole in the back boxes to see how that sounded first,,
and YES!!!!!,,OH YESSS what a difference

the grin factor thru the roof with this,,this is how these cars should have sounded from new,,
the thing i like is that just tootling around its pretty quiet and burbly and civilised sounding,,,even with the big hole adapter plate inserted ,,but sounds bang on wen the loud peddle is squeezed lol, poping and banging like a trooper on overun, luv it,
so alls good so far,
what to get next?,,,?? lol

aye badboy, dunno wot was going on there tbh,,,the electric valve worked, but emmmm,if the cutouts had been further back inline rather than where it was, it might have been a bit better, but the oem exhaust noise was crap anyways,,,so its ditched overboard back to the titanic where i think its been anyway lol

Now go get the headers and cats. I think mine might have arrived at Monkfish. Can't wait to see the look on the neighbours faces

looking into the pro,s and cons of that tbh,,its a fair few dollars for not alot of bang,,,but then again the soundtarack is enhanced even more(if thats possible lol),,another thing to consider about the headers n cats is if a s/c is on the cards in the future, and im sure a s/c would likey those,,will see,,but yeah i wouldnt rule oot that being the next move,,
how long was the back order for them from monkfish?,the wortec cat-back took six weeks,,,
,you fitting the headers n cats yourself?,,
im wondering if its a remap if these are fitted ,or if there fitted diy itll run and behave ok?

It's taken 6 weeks which they said it would. Mind you they have not confirmed they have it, Andy thinks it is in though. Alas I cannot fit anything like that. Monkfish are doing it. It is basically a sport to performance pack upgrade. I'm sure it involves a remap. Without trying to sound shallow, I must admit I'm having it done for the noise enhancement. I think there is a slight power increase but it's not my priority. Also having the auto gearbox re mapped which is supposed to be a worthy upgrade. I had the pleasure of hearing one with the full performance pack and I fell in love. The catback on it's own though is gorgeous especially at high revs. Very addictive. Just need more volume!!
