Any tips on how to replace the rear fog on a monaro VXR? Mine is looking a little sorry for itself.

I have a replacement but can't unbolt the old one or fit the new one through the small inspection panel under the bumper. Is it a bumper off job or am I missing something stupid?

Any help appreciated while I wait for the sensation to come back to my arm. laugh

I ended up dropping the plastic panel under the back bumper when I did mine, replaced it with one of those £15 led rain lights. Had to get fairly brutal with some vice grips from memory, may even have twisted the thin mounting brackets off in the end as it was rusted up good and proper. Can't quite remember now.... Only took about 15 mins though including soldering the new light in. Hth...!

I think I may have to do the same. I thought there must be a sensible way to unbolt it and replace but brute force it is!

Cheers

So brute force was the answer. Of the 3 bolts holding the light on, I sheared 2. Only 1 unbolted.

The metal bracket holding it in looked like it had been under the sea for 10 years!

How long you had yoir fitted i found that after a good while thd LED light started to burn out out something to do with the resister that comes with the light isnt strong enough

Hey I have no idea if it still works, never turn it on - it just looks less then the old one! Worked when fitted though....

It's been in about a year or so. Is it something they check on an mot as I had one of them a couple of weeks back?

It's really easy to do. Buy a replacement unit from monkfish, remove your rear bumper and replace.
Here is the guide I made when I did the job I hope it helps:

That's really handy, thanks. If I'd have found that earlier I would have probably taken the bumper off to fit.

I managed through the little inspection panel in front of the bumper - it just required a lot of swearing.
