Just picked up a red vxr8 ls3 at the weekend and it's got a walkinshaw exhaust already fitted but for me it's just a little too quiet when I want to be loud. I've read that the wartec exhaust is great but struggling to justify spending £1,900 on a feature I will only use on occasion. I've been looking at previous threads but it doesn't seem like they come up for sale that often, dose anyone know of anyone who has a second hand system for sale?

Remove your centre box and fit either an x pipe, h pipe or straight through pipes.

Loads of 2.5" x pipes and h pipes on ebay, local exhaust shop shouldn't chargemore than £100 to remove your box and fit the pipes you purchased.

If you've already got the Walkinshaw exhaust fitted, and it isn't loud enough, then I'm guessing that you probably only have the cat-back exhaust module rather than the full Walkinshaw exhaust system.

Consider looking at adding headers and high-flow cats to the existing Walkinshaw cat-back system. That will certainly increase the volume when the valves in the cat back are open, while still remaining sensible when the valves in the cat back are closed.

The Wortec exhaust system is similar to the Walkinshaw system in that it too is modular. So it also has a cat back section system with valves for loud/quiet switching, and then optional headers/cats if you want real thunder.

So I suppose what I'm saying is, not point switching the Walkinshaw cat back system for a Wortec cat back system if you want more volume, as both will be similar in volume without also going for headers and high flow cats.

The exhaust on the car at the moment doesn't have the option to switch between quiet and loud. I quite like the option of headers and high flow cats this might give a happy medium but guessing cost will be approaching that of a new wartec! Thanks for the help and suggestions

I'm assuming it is the original VE1 not the E3 GTS you have. But it sounds like you have the Walkinshaw performance exhaust, if you want an easy bolt on/swap for noise try to source the supercar back boxes. They are a lot louder.

Otherwise have you considered getting remote cut outs added?

Other than second-hand, can you actually buy the WP supercar back boxes any more?
