GM battery for VXR8
Discussion
Hi all.
I recently had an issue with a dead battery after just 2 days non use. The breakdown guy said the battery had no charge and didn't seem right.
As said battery was installed by Vauxhall just 18 months ago I decided to take it back. They tested it and said it was fine.
Just the other day the guys at Monkfish took a look during a service. They told me it was a Monaro battery and not the VXR8 model.
However, Vauxhall now tell me it's the only battery they have listed for the VX and gave me the part number telling me to contact GM spares....whoever they are.
Anyone had anything similar?

Return it under the sale of goods act (not fit for purpose) and order a new one from Tayna Batteries.
Another gleaming example of a useless dealer.
List of available batteries from Tayna. Fast delivery and great service.

Having had problems recently, to the best of my knowledge none of the Yuasa batteries suit the VXR8.SteveMJ said:

Their technology is not 'silver'ARAF said:
5000 series are silver, 3000 series are not. That's the problem you had, and you were told on your charging thread. Dale went out of his way to reinforce what he'd said, but it seemed to fall on deaf ears.
I've recently had some correspondance with Yuasa customer support - I was told that the only silver aspect of the YBX5000 series batteries is the colour of the case. :-(Although this is for Ford it should apply to Holden too.

Post up a copy, and I'll take it up with them - as it seems someone in their organisation doesn't know much about their products. I'm guessing that this is the same Yuasa person that told you the 3000 series was correct for your car?
No, the retailer sold me the Yuasa YBX3016, which didn't fit in the space available. I actually fitted another YBX3010 (from memeory). I looked at Yuasa web site and they reccommend YBX3016 or YBX5016. The correspondenc eI had was with their customer service representative. Please PM me and I'll forward you the email correspondence.

Like wise you have to use the correct charger on these as conventional chargers for lead acid battery's do not change at a high enough rate.
The charger we use at work has 5 different charge rate settings for the different types of batteries on motor vehicles.
