Auto GTS views of the experts
Discussion
Ok having said Autos were not for me, I have sold the Bathurst S which was manual and am looking at the GTS 2014/15. As I have found this forum contains some good solid advice
Auto GTS or manual?. Pros and cons . I do not drive my cars that fast on the road, just wondered what the experts thought.
GTS would be 600BHP max with no plans on any further upgrades as the Bathurst for me was more than enough.

Drive one yourself, there's no point in taking others opinions on this one when it's you who has to live with it daily.Auto GTS or manual?. Pros and cons . I do not drive my cars that fast on the road, just wondered what the experts thought.

Going too, but I have found out on here by asking you can save a lot of time and £££££ before making decisions. I certainly have over the past couple of years. Never hurts to get the views of those who have more knowledge than myself. Mine is an auto through personal choice... I'm more than happy to let the automatic box do all the work and my damaged knee agrees ! Each to their own of course but it's a smooth and comfortable way to travel particularly through anything resembling stop start traffic. Seems plenty quick enough for me in normal day to day use ...
Hope this helps....

You've got the option with the auto to change gear manually but without having to use a clutch
Flimsy second best though and it will force upshifts and deny downshifts if it wants. So its not the same..TonyTwoTribes said:

I agree...but this one is really so much of a personal choice. Some love autos, some hate them..some...just dont know yet.For a relaxed daily cruiser...and if you see a lot of traffic, then it would be hard to ignore an auto.

If it's for commuting or long distances with traffic - Auto is great
Sunday morning blast or nice drive - Manual
AUTO - It drives you
MANUAL - You drive it

I wonder how many gearboxes, clutches, bell housing the manual guys go through compared to the Auto guys that have say no problems.
I mean the ones with just a simple remap.

I often find it comical to read on the US forums about guys who change from manual to auto, because of clutch "problems" etc and spending a fortune.I wonder how many gearboxes, clutches, bell housing the manual guys go through compared to the Auto guys that have say no problems.

Only for them to go auto, break the auto, have torque converter problems, have the TC wipe out their thrust bearings on the engine, then have clutches in the box slipping ( or wherever they are in an auto ), or going through multiple TC's to find one that's matched to their setup etc etc etc
Many of them end up spending far far more than they ever would retaining a manual !
And they still say the auto is cheaper and more reliable lol.
so called problems occur with both types.
