I have just changed both the dip beam projector headlight bulbs on my VZ Monaro. When I checked to see if they were working properly, I noticed that the passenger side was just a little bit dimmer than the drivers side.
I swapped the bulbs over to see if I had a poor bulb, but again the passenger side appeared dimmer.
I checked all the other lights on the car just in case I had a bad earth but all seems OK, as are all the wiring connections, the bulbs are also seated properly.
When I looked at both projector lenses, the one on the passenger side is set back from the reflector a few millimetres more than the drivers side. Could this make the light appear duller because it is set further back?
So can one of you kind Monaro types check you headlights to see if the projector lenses are the same distance from the reflectors..or not!

Thanks
John

Hi John
I have 2 brand new units to put in mine and both seem to be set back the same but are at a slightly different angle to each other I suspect to cast the lights toward the edge of the road. HTH So if you are looking at them from the same point one willl look slightly dimmer move to the right and it should get brighter

vxkev,

Yes, you have a point there.
I think the passenger lens,is about 5mm set back from the reflector compared to the drivers side. That might be to allow the lens to be angled to the nearside.
I have since rechecked the lights. I walked some distance from the car leaving the lights on and they seemed OK. There was no noticeable difference in light output, but up close I noticed the slight difference.
I did replace the standard bulbs with brighter H9's... that may explain it.

Thanks John
