Finally found a decent forum for Monaro talk and advice so thought I'd introduce myself.

Picked up this Monaro 6.0 VXR a few weeks ago, 77k and 4 previous owners and looking back at 2009 the owner was a regular member off here.

Apart from the wortec exhaust (sounds lovely) and the darker shade alloys it's standard. May fit some AP brakes but I'm not planning on doing anything else to it. Always been a BMW nut (or novas back in the day) but thought I'd try something different. Absolutely love everything about it, such a big lazy v8 coupe which gets looks everywhere I go. Obviously nowhere near as refined as a beemer but I kind of like that. I just can't stop smiling when I'm driving it and knowing that I finally own a car that has always been on my dream car list.

Plan is to keep it for many years but we'll see. Is a daily driver but over the winters I'll get the trusty 330ci out and store this away.

A few quick pics, bear in mind the car is still dirty here, I gave it a polish the next day and it's pretty much immaculate but no pictures as of yet.

The next thing to do is put a badge back on the bonnet, I take it these are just stuck on? Seen that monkfish sell them.

Any local owners in Lancashire by the way? Only ever seen a blue cv8 in all these years and quite a few vxr8s.

Thanks guys, wish I bought one years ago to be honest. For the budget the obvious choice was an E46 M3 but I'm sick of seeing them and have had about 10 3 series' so thought I'd try a Monaro. Absolute bonkers car and loving it, doubt I'll ever regret the decision to buy one.

Welcome, nice car, best colour thumbup

Not going to do anything else to it? Just you wait until you come to a meet, you'll get the modding bug hehe

I wouldn't mind the rest of the wortec system and headers actually laugh

Not really sure what else there would be to mod it, they're pretty much perfect as they are.

Welcome to the forums.

There are a few of us in Lancashire. I'm in Bury, and there's a few of us in and around Manchester.

When it comes to mods. I think as a bare minimum they need ripshifter, AP's and poly bushes. Some of the standard bits are so sloppy. The gear selection is horrible as standard.

If you're happy though, my advice is don't drive a modified one. You will be emptying your wallet in no time if you do.

Enjoy the car. Mines my everyday car as well. Used it in all weathers. Snow is always fun.

I'm not too sure about the mile run event but I'm up for other meets and events, just need to see what's about during the summer.

I know the car hasn't got the best gearbox and suspension but I kind of like the lazy feel to it all. I've always had modded cars and thought that I would want to mod this but I'm ok with it at the moment but I'm sure one day I will spend some cash on it. The plan is just to enjoy it this year and then when it's off the road over winter see what mods I'd like to do to it.
