Hi, I'm just looking for some help from the collective knowledge of this sub-forum.

I'm looking to buy a VXR8, my annular mileage is so small that it MPG doesn't really matter.
The car i'm looking to look at is Build #88 which is an Auto in Phantom Black, it's done about 48K miles and has a full dealer service history.
I can't find any info on the build register about it.

Doing some research I believe I should be looking to make sure the brakes have plenty of meat left on the discs, ensure that it's been
undersealed from new and the front suspension arms have changed due to recall.

Is there anything else I need to know about these cars?

Also upgrades, a remap of the gearbox by Monkfish racing apparently is the way to go, and fit an Alpine EZI DAB inferface,

Again is there anything else that you would recommend?

There is a wiki below that might help:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=125...

For some reason, the wiki's don't seem to work anymore, so have to use Google to find it

Good history with documents, lower mileage is better (come resale), Just me but buy from a reputable dealer who will sort those little niggles that will come up. I'd sooner pay more from a dealer and get a warranty than chance it privately. If private do a full HPI check etc otherwise what you think is yours may not be.

Thanks for the reply, it's at a dealer, that appears reputable. Have also been ringing the dealer the supplied and serviced it from new trying to find out what else was done to it. Will see what happens. smile

Just my opinion , but you're not going to get any real history from a dealer other than paperwork, you pay extra for a warranty, which you can buy yourself privately, these cars are well made and there isn't a lot to go wrong on them ,no turbos, no swirl valves, no air or hydraulic suspension, no complicated electronics, etc etc. and if something does it's going to be less to fix than than say a mercedes. you can buy a whole engine for 3k, less than a turbo on a merc or BMW.

if your not mechanically minded then a full RAC or AA inspection would be better value.

To check - Front lower arms, power steering pump & racks , manual cars = Diffs , boot release mechanisms ,engine lifter noise , stereo operation , disc condition , look out for cars fitted with cheapo make tyres ( if they usually skimp on those they will else where also ), broken front lower lights
Front bumper repairs , rear bumpers melting around exhaust outlets , radiators leaking around lower crimps etc

In other words have a good look as most parts are very costly
