Windscreen replacement
Discussion
Evening all,
I could do with having my windscreen replaced (for various reasons- a chip, scratches etc). What are autoglass replacement windscreens like? Are they as good as the genuine manufacturer-fit items? Can you insist on having a manufacturer screen fitted, or will it not make a difference?
The only reason I ask is that I am sure I read somewhere that someone had an issue or insisted a manufacturer spec screen was fitted. However, I could be spouting utter rubbish!
Cheers
Mike

I will be able to tell you on Wednesday.
Having mine replaced. They had to order the screen and seal which has taken nearly 2 weeks. They grade difficulty of installation from 1-5, 1 being easy. The monaro is a 5 so requires a master fitter with exapreience of fitting one.
We shall see how good it is.

If its not urgent mike is it not better to get one fitted after TRI could do with having my windscreen replaced (for various reasons- a chip, scratches etc). All fitted today with no dramas. The screen is wave cut at the bottom to go around the wiper motor.
Front scuttle plastic panels need to be removed.
A new rubber seal was fitted and then the screen is glued.
Took about 90 mins. Was his third HSV/ Holden based car
Has restored my confidence with autoglass
